TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Expediency Council Chairman Hashemi Rafsanjani said here Thursday that the firm status of Iran's religious-political system is a trigger for wrath of its enemies.

He made the remark at the gathering of clergies at Sheikh Saduq Hall of Hazrat Abdol-Azim Shrine in Shahr-e Rey.

"According to the recent report released by the U.S., in which the name of Iran was repeated 80 times, resolving Iraq's issue is inter-connected with the issue of Arabs and Palestine, while Iran and Syria should be taken into view.

"By attacking Afghanistan and Iraq as well as launching various revolutions in the countries having gained independence, the U.S. intended to siege Iran, while it ended up being encircled not only in the Middle East, but also in the White House. This is while Iran has a strong status.

Rafsanjani said that despite all pressures, Iran managed to access nuclear technology, adding that the nuclear issue should rather be solved in the course of time, given its risky nature.
